DBFM Certification applied to those Family Physicians, who are rigorously assessed and found competent to protect the public, community, and populations; enhance health and well-being of patients/clients and communities; and deliver quality health care  by means of  Diagnosing, treatment, and help prevent diseases and injuries that commonly occur in the general population.  Being a board-certified family physician demonstrates to their patients and colleagues that Diplomats Board of Family Medicine are committed to providing high-quality health care.

Experience Requirements

Experience requirement for Rout 1: One year House Job, three years residency or equivalent training e.g., FCPS, MD
Experience requirement for Rout  2: One year House Job, Five years experience in Family Medicine

Candidacy Criteria:

Rout 1: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Eligibility through three years residency or equivalent training e.g., FCPS, MD

Rout 2: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Two-year Qualification like MCPS, MRCGP [INT], Diploma in Family Medicine, Masters in Family Medicine

Active National Medical Practice License Mandatory for either Rout

Pretest

The candidate will be required to take the online “Pretest” assessment questionnaire within five days after completing the application process. Chairman DBFM shall have full access to your pretest but this will not affect your score unless any serious disparities are found between OSCE and your pretest score.

PCCS Certification Test

Diplomat Board of Family Medicine Certification Exam shall comprises of two parts; A computer-based Tests CBT online exams and an objective structured clinical examination OSCE,

Online Computer based testing: CBT of 200 MCQs, randomly selected from database through automated examination system, with in an allotted time of 240 minutes. CBT exam shall be without any gap.   All questions are mandatory, single best answer, multiple-choice format. Passing criteria set as 80% to qualify for Board certification overall.

OSCE will be scheduled and conducted after passing CBT.

OSCE : The Clinical Skills Assessment shall consists of 12 station OSCE. The duration of each station will be ten minutes and each station will entail complete consultation by the candidate

Venue, Schedule, Login and Password for CBT will be emailed to each candidate seven days prior to the test date. Candidates coming to the testing center will be required to bring original National ID card and exam slip with them as a permission to appear in exam.

Certification Period

Validity tenure of initial certification of Diplomat Board is ten-year, renewable for next ten years which require practice as prescribed in an approved Certification Scheme. A diplomat Family Physician will be required to complete minimum 150 Credit of CME / CPD as one hour CME is equal to one hour of face to face interaction, shall remain in Good Standing of national registration authority and follow PCCS Code of Conduct to maintain the status of Diplomate Board of Family Medicine status that is set as bench mark of clinical Competency in respective domain. general Requirements for recertification are prescribed and approved by BoD of PCCS in Consultation with concerned Board of Family Physicians.
